We are a homeschool family that enjoys teaching our kids about God, the simple pleasures, and where our food comes from.  We stay pretty busy trying to be as sell sufficient as possible.  We started with just a few chickens before our kids were born.  Now I have at least a couple hundred at a time all in various stages of development. We don't believe in using antibiotics, chemical wormers, or animal bi-products in our feed.  We free range our birds daily and lock them in a pen at night for safety. We use Diatemaceous Earth and pumpkin seeds for deworming.

Some chickens are raised for laying eggs, some are raised for selling. For people that want to start having thier own layers I raise and sell layers starting at $10. I buy my layers from a hatchery as day old chicks so that I don't end up with a lot of roosters. Typically, I  have Buff Orpingtons, Golden Comets, and Barred Rocks.  These are my favorite layers.

As for my laying flock I have a wide variety of birds from Easter Eggers which produce a beautiful blue green egg to Dark Copper Marans that produce a dark chocolate colored egg.  I always keep a wide range of birds as I like to try different breeds.  I am able to breed and hatch from the Dark Copper Marans and Blue Cochins and sell these as straight run day old chicks.

Just in case you are wondering this is also how we got our business name.  We started with raising chickens years ago so now we are Nowicki's Chickies.  Although we have added soaps, lotions and lip balms to our ways to of being more self sufficient we will always carry this name.
